From the iconic, two-dimensional images of the East to the three-dimensional statuary of the West, sacred art has evolved to reflect the ever-present beauty of divine grace. At Prostatia, we embrace this tradition, utilizing bas-relief—the same technique seen in the creation of chalices, altar fans, crosses, bell construction, and icon metal covers. Bas-relief provides a link between the ancient and the modern, between the flat, reverent icons of the East and the sculptural beauty often found in Western sacred art. Our creations are carefully designed to not only be luxurious but to carry deep spiritual meaning. We craft our jewelry from the finest materials, including solid 925 sterling silver and 14k yellow, white, and rose (pink) gold—metals known for their durability, elegance, and timeless beauty. Many of our items are also crafted using gold vermeil, a high-quality plated metal that mirrors the technique used in sacred art found within churches. This plating process, which involves a thick layer of gold over sterling silver, is akin to the gilding found on chalices, crosses, and other sacred vessels, providing a rich, lasting finish that resonates with the same reverence seen in ecclesiastical art.
